A trainer will have you stretching and moving in a wider range of motion at varied volumes of effort, through ways that you would never come up with on your own. Constantly doing the same routine or exercises can lead to injuries and the dreaded plateau. Changing things up will not only improve your overall fitness but it can also prevent injury and ensure that your routine is well  balanced.
